Hamren: New Sweden coach
Sweden have appointed Erik Hamren as their new national manager following the departure of Lars Lagerback.
Hamren will continue to coach Norwegian side Rosenborg while he manages Sweden, although he will switch to a full-time national role at the end of August next year.
Hamren has coached Rosenborg since June 2008 and the Norwegian club only lost one league fixture last year as they ran away with the title.
"To become the national squad coach for one's own country has been a big dream for me, and I'm very grateful that Rosenborg has given me this opportunity," he said.
He has signed a contract with the Swedish Football Association until 2013, despite reports last week that negotiations had broken down.
A statement from the Swedish FA said: "After last week's breakdown in the negotiations, the two sides have after a few days' break reached an agreement on Erik Hamren becoming Sweden's coach."
Former coach Lars Lagerback stepped down after Sweden failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and Hamren's first aim will be to secure qualification for Euro 2012.
Team president Lars-Aake Lagrell said: "We are very happy and proud to sign Erik Hamren as coach. For the Swedish Football Association, this is a long-term solution."
