John Toshack has hailed the performance of his young stars during Wales' 3-0 victory over Scotland.

The comprehensive success at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday further justified Toshack's decision to put his faith in the stars of tomorrow.

Wales are not due to be in competitive action again until the Euro 2012 qualifiers begin in September 2010, so they have plenty of opportunity to experiment.

Toshack has looked to blood a number of youngsters during his time in charge of the Dragons, with one eye firmly locked on the future.

The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Ched Evans, Sam Vokes and Simon Church have all risen to the fore, with their national coach delighted with their impressive progress.

"Ramsey did well and there was a spark of an understanding with Simon," said Toshack following the Scotland display.

Positive

"When they played together last season against England Under 21s, Aaron made three goals over two games for Simon, it is something I hope blossoms in the future.

"What we have to do is make sure that things are right behind him. We experimented with Ashley Williams in a holding role in our previous match in Liechtenstein and it worked well with Aaron having a free role ahead of him.

"We tried it again against Scotland and it worked okay again. Ramsey was further forward and we felt what we were trying looked positive.

"We are getting a bigger, more complete, squad. Lads like Andy King and Joe Allen have had full seasons with their club sides and are important additions for us.

"And the front lads did very well. Church and Evans are both playing regularly for their clubs while Sam Vokes has got a good loan move to Leeds where he is also benefiting from matches.

"The three of them really occupied the Scottish defenders, they all played their part and worked really hard."
