Former Sweden coach Lars Lagerback has revealed he would be interested in the Scotland manager's job.

Scotland are searching for a new coach following the dismissal of George Burley on Monday in the wake of a 3-0 defeat to Wales last weekend.

A number of candidates have ruled themselves out of the running for the post, but Lagerback admits he would be open to the position.

Lagerback quit his role with Sweden last month after failing to guide them to the World Cup and the 61-year-old has invited the SFA to open talks with him.

"Yes, the job interests me. I said when I finished with Sweden if an interesting challenge came along I would be happy to listen," Lagerback told the Daily Record.

"I have not been in touch with anyone at the SFA but am open to speak with them.

"Sweden, like Scotland, doesn't have a huge population but in football terms we've made the best of what we have.

"That of course has to be the key for a nation like Scotland too."
