Germany coach Joachim Low is confident of extending his contract before the end of January.

The 49-year-old has impressed the German Football Federation (DFB) since taking over from Jurgen Klinsmann after the 2006 World Cup.

He led the national side to the final of Euro 2008, where they were beaten 1-0 by Spain, and then oversaw an unbeaten 2010 World Cup qualification campaign.

DFB president Theo Zwanziger revealed in December he had agreed an extension until 2012 and Low is now close to finalising a deal.

He said: The final discussions will take place this month.

"I have already talked over the issue with the DFB president and we have agreed a two-year extension, but there are still some points to sort out."
