Nigeria have decided to appoint a new coach, less than six months before the World Cup finals.

Former coach Shaibu Amodu guided the Super Eagles to the finals and also recently saw them to third place at the African Cup of Nations.

But following a meeting in Abuja, the Nigerian Football Federation has revealed that they have opted for a new boss to take in South Africa.

Big names like Guus Hiddink and Louis van Gaal are being linked, but more likely targets are reported to be former Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic, Qatar chief Bruno Metsu and ex-England Under-21 chief Peter Taylor - who recently left Wycombe Wanderers.

The federation now hope to have a new man in charge by the end of the month.

Nigeria will be in Group B for the summer's World Cup in South Africa alongside Argentina, Greece and South Korea.
