Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has been given another opportunity to accept an invitation for a farewell match against Brazil.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder has been involved in a war of words after being told he no longer features in the plans of national team manager Joachim Low.

Ballack is furious that he has been forced into international retirement at the age of 34 and snubbed the proposed game against Brazil by describing it as a 'farce'.

But German Football Federation (DFB) president Theo Zwanziger has renewed the offer of the game against Brazil.

"Michael Ballack has earned an honourable farewell, despite what has happened (in the past days). What Low offered him was an honest offer," said Zwanziger in a column to be published on Wednesday in Sport Bild magazine.

Zwanziger continued: "But we do not bear grudges. The DFB door remains open for him. I think it is a great gesture for the long-time Germany captain to say goodbye to the team and fans in a classic match against Brazil.

"Michael Ballack obviously thought he still had a shot at playing in next year's Euro (in Poland and Ukraine), possibly even as team captain. It is only logical that the decision of the coach is painful."
