Ex-Germany goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand hopes to revive his career after being asked to train with German second tier side Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since he was released by Sporting Lisbon at the end of last season.

After an unproductive spell with Valencia prior to his move to Portugal, he is now aiming to earn a contract with a club in Germany.

"I have not ruled out the second division," he told the Bild newspaper.

"I have considered a few options from abroad, but have had two bad experiences there.

"I am now just working with humbleness."

Hildebrand's career has gone downhill ever since he left Stuttgart after winning the title with them in 2007.

He subsequently lost his place in the Germany national team as he became second choice with his new club Valencia.

He returned to Germany for a spell with Hoffenheim, but they did not offer him a new contract in 2010 and he spent the whole of last season as reserve goalkeeper with Sporting.

The keeper, who was linked to Manchester City as experienced cover for No.1 Joe Hart in the latest transfer window, is now working on getting his career back on the rails by training with Frankfurt.

"You only really recognise mistakes after you have committed them," he said. "I have had a lot of time to consider things and realise what went wrong.

"The best thing is now being able to train with a team again, and I do know a few players here too."
