Villa: Bagged a brace as Spain booked their place in Euro 2012 finals
Steven Naismith threw Scotland a Euro 2012 lifeline by firing them to a crucial win over Lithuania in their qualifier at Hampden.
Naismith claimed the only goal of the game after skipper Darren Fletcher was denied from the penalty spot.
The Scots held on for the victory which sees them now sit two points behind the Czech Republic with two games to go as both nations battle for a play-off spot.
Meanwhile, holders Spain qualified with two games to spare after David Villa and Alvaro Negredo both scored twice in their 6-0 thumping of minnows Liechtenstein.
Striker Negredo fired Spain ahead in the 34th minute and doubled the lead three minutes later before Xavi struck a superb free-kick to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage going into the break.
Full-back Sergio Ramos provided the fourth before two more from Spain's all-time top scorer Villa, his 48th and 49th for his country, wrapped up the rout.
The victory makes it six wins out of six in Group I for Vicente del Bosque's men and puts them eight points clear of nearest rivals Czech Republic.
