Spurs: Winless in six
Last season Spurs were often accused of not being able to defend a lead.
At the end of the 2007/08 campaign Tottenham had dropped the most points in the Premier League after having scored the first goal, a troubling total of 28.
Things got worse though.
If last term Juande Ramos' men were struggling to defend a lead, in the current situation the main thing is avoiding conceding first, never mind scoring.
| 2006/07 | ||||||
| Team | First Goal Scored | Points Dropped | ||||
| Tottenham | 23 | 28 | ||||
| Fulham | 15 | 25 | ||||
| Middlesbrough | 17 | 20 | ||||
| Derby | 9 | 19 | ||||
| Birmingham | 15 | 18 | ||||
| West Ham | 17 | 17 | ||||
In five games out of six Spurs have been trailing while in the remaining fixture they could not break the deadlock in their home fixture against Wigan, a side they had never previously failed to score against in the league.
| 2007/08 | ||||||
| Team | First Goal Conceded | Pts Won | ||||
| Tottenham | 5 | 1 | ||||
| Everton | 4 | 1 | ||||
| Hull City | 4 | 7 | ||||
| Newcastle | 4 | 0 | ||||
| Portsmouth | 4 | 3 | ||||
| Stoke City | 4 | 0 | ||||
The only point won once behind was away at Chelsea, a result which is without doubt the highlight of the season so far.
