Fed to the Three Lions

Defoe: Bagged a brace against Andorra in 2006

In recent times, England seem to have performed well at home against the lowly ranked teams in the Fifa hierarchy.

Since the turn of the millennium, 19 goals have been scored and only two conceded against the minnows of European football in competitive fixtures - keeping seven clean sheets in the process.

Eighteen of these goals were scored before the 67th minute, which could show that England go on the attack from kick-off, but once ahead they take their foot well and truly off the gas.

Fabio Capello's men should not be over confident about securing two easy victories in their next two games against Kazakhstan and Belarus however, as Macedonia have managed to draw twice in their two visits to England, with the 0-0 at Old Trafford in October 2006 proving particularly fatal as it condemned the Three Lions to a summer at home - missing out on Euro 2008.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, who has been recalled to Capello's squad, has managed to put his name on the scoresheet in his last two games against so-called minnows; but with Theo Walcott on such fine form it is unlikely that the Manchester City winger will feature this time around.

Another player fighting for a place in the starting XI is Jermain Defoe and, interestingly, he managed his first brace in a Three Lions shirt against Andorra in September 2006.
