Quotes of the week
John Terry is urging England supporters to get behind Frank Lampard.
The England captain fears Lampard has been made the scapegoat for the team's recent disappointing performances and he is hopeful his Chelsea colleague will receive renewed support in Wednesday night's meeting with Germany.
Terry has admitted his surprise that Lampard was targeted by a section of fans before and during the June friendly against Brazil at Wembley.
"I was really surprised at what happened with Frank. It has happened once before," said Terry.
"I don't condone it and I certainly don't want the fans to do it again.
"Frank has been fantastic for England over the last three or four years - not only his goal record, but also his overall performances.
"When things weren't going well for us it was easy for a section of the crowd to target certain players.
"Unfortunately Frank was targeted, but he has been brilliant for England and Chelsea, and I would ask the fans to get behind every single one of us.
"He is a world-class player and he has done it for England for many years now."
