McClaren: Happy with Beckham
Steve McClaren has insisted he was correct to select David Beckham for England's friendly with Germany.
The midfielder has been struggling with an ankle injury since linking up with his new club Los Angeles Galaxy.
He completed 90 minutes on Saturday but there are doubts about whether he will be able to play the full match against Germany.
There are also concerns about whether Beckham will continue to play at a high level for England over the coming months while he is travelling back and forth across the Atlantic.
However, McClaren has been impressed by Beckham's attitude and maintains that he will stay in his plans as long as he keeps on performing.
"Of course it is worth him flying over," said the England coach.
"It is not how the travelling impacts on England, it is about how it impacts on David.
"As I've always said, it is down to his performances.
"We will be monitoring how he does in Los Angeles, but there is no problem with him at the moment.
"Anybody would want to be involved for their country and David's attitude and willing to make the trip speaks for itself."
