Hughton: Sad day
Chris Hughton admits it is a 'sad day' after his near 30-year association with Tottenham Hotspur came to an end.
The former Spurs full-back was sacked from his position as first-team coach on Thursday, along with manager Martin Jol.
Hughton visited the club's training ground on Friday morning and spoke to Sky Sports News upon his departure.
"I've had a long, long association with the club," Hughton told Sky Sports News.
"I think at the moment the nice parts of me are thinking about the support I've had over the years. They are such a wonderful support.
"It's been a pleasure for me to be associated with such a great club.
"It's a sad day for me today, but I've been in the game long enough now to know that tomorrow's another day, and I have to get on with life and go on to pastures new."
Jol was also at the training ground on Friday and Hughton acknowledged the Dutchman's popularity with the club's supporters.
He added: "Of course it's never an easy time when these things happen. This won't be the first time and it won't be the last.
"Martin's a very popular manager and I think everybody wishes him all the best."
