Mourinho: Would be honoured to coach England
Jose Mourinho would consider an offer to become the next England coach, according to his media adviser.
The former Chelsea boss is the favourite to replace Steve McClaren, who was sacked after failing to lead England to Euro 2008.
Sky Sports News spoke to Mourinho last week at his Portuguese home and he was non-committal on whether he was interested in the role.
But his media adviser Eladio Parames has now confirmed that Mourinho would be willing to listen to any approach from the Football Association.
Parames told Sky Sports News: "It's a job that every coach would be honoured if they were invited, and Jose is no exception. He loves English football, he loves the crowds.
"To be manager of England is not the same as being manager of another country. To be manager of England is a big job, it is a very, very interesting job.
"Everybody in Portugal knows what English football means in Europe and in the world."
Parames admitted that there has been no contact with the Football Association, but that Mourinho would be prepared to open talks if chief executive Brian Barwick were to make an approach.
He said: "If the FA make an approach, and talk with his agent Jorge Mendes and talk with Jose, I'm sure he would consider the offer and discuss the offer.
"Of course Jose will listen, like he would listen if it was another club or another situation. Jose has his own ideas.
"But there has been no contact at all with him or his agent. There are a lot of things pushing him to say yes, because the football is spectacular and the players are very good players.
"But he likes his privacy, he likes his life not in the papers, and sometimes in England the media searches the things he doesn't like.
"We know what the fans want and we know there is a movement in England for Jose. For him, the situation is very nice."
Mourinho has been linked with a number of leading vacancies following his departure from Stamford Bridge, but Parames insisted he is yet to be formally approached about any job.
He added: "We don't have any approaches from any club. Nobody from Ireland, Italy or Spain or any other country has approached him. So he is very happy at home with his wife and his family and is not in a hurry for a new job.
"He loves football, it is his life, but he is not in a hurry. He is not concerned if he is not working this month, or next month or at the end of the season.
"If the FA is interested, why don't they contact his agent or him - why not?
"A lot of people in England want Jose in the job. This is one thing, but another thing is what the FA wants, and we don't know what the FA wants."
Parames also moved to quash speculation that Mourinho was simply linking himself with the England vacancy as a bargaining tool to help him secure another job back in club management.
He said: "Only people who don't know Jose could think like that. Jose would never do a thing like that, and he doesn't need to do that to get another job.
"Jose does not need to use the FA to get a job. It is rubbish, it is stupid and Jose is not the kind of guy who would think like that."
