Geordan Murphy will start Ireland's RBS Six Nations clash against Scotland on Saturday at full-back after Girvan Dempsey was ruled out with a hip injury.
Dempsey failed a fitness test on Friday morning, 24 hours after taking a knock to his left leg in training.
Leicester's Murphy therefore comes back into the side having initially been dropped following a poor showing in Ireland's 26-21 defeat by France a fortnight ago.
But Brian O'Driscoll will start the match, Ireland's captain being given the all clear despite suffering a tight calf.
Coach Eddie O'Sullivan said: "Girvan didn't make it because of the bruising on his hip. He's out, so Geordan takes his place.
"We hope he'll be ready to face Wales in two weeks' time, because he's a good healer and he's always recovered quickly from these type of injuries."
Matt Le Tissier told Soccer Saturday it is time to stop talking about Arsenal being title contenders.
Mark Petchey says Feliciano Lopez could hold the key to Spanish Davis Cup glory in this week's final.
