Scott Nicholls recaptured the British title with victory at Swindon, whilst Ed Kennett secured the wild card for the British Grand Prix.
Nicholls reclaimed the title which he lost to Chris Harris last year with victory in the final at Blunsdon.
The Eastbourne star took the chequered flag ahead of Kennett, Harris and British Under-21 champion Tai Woffinden.
The main event saw Nicholls and Harris dominate, with 12 and 14 points respectively - which put them straight through to the final.
The next four riders would make up the semi-final with the top-two progressing.
Swindon's own James Wright finished on 11 along with Woffinden and they were closely followed by Simon Stead while Kennett squeezed through with 9 and just one win from his five rides.
There were some notable disappointments with Elite League stars such as David Howe - who took the GP wild card last season, Danny King and the much fancied Lewis Bridger all failing to make the latter stages.
The semi-final saw Kennett record only his second win of the night as he led Woffinden home ahead of Stead and Wright.
Into the final and Nicholls eased to the chequered flag and his fifth British title.
Kennett was pushed hard by both Woffinden and Harris - but he held on to claim the wild card for Cardiff.
Woffinden and Stead will now be the on-track reserves in the Welsh capital.
