Premier League new boys Hull City are closing in on a double deal for Bernard Mendy and George Boateng.
Hull have been trying to finalise a move for former Paris Saint Germain full-back Mendy for several weeks and the transfer could be completed by Thursday.
Mendy has undergone a medical with the Tigers after agreeing personal terms, and is due to arrive at the KC Stadium on a free transfer.
"He was having a medical and hopefully, fingers crossed, he'll have put pen-to-paper by Thursday," Brown told the club's official website.
"Although he's a free transfer, contract wise it's still a big commitment, but we've agreed personal terms.
"But these things have a habit of sometimes kicking you in the backside, so we'll make sure whoever does put pen-to-paper, we'll announce it in due course."
Middlesbrough midfielder Boateng is also in talks to join Hull after the two clubs agreed on a fee reported to be in the region of £500,000.
Brown said: "The deal between ourselves and Middlesbrough has been agreed.
"It's now just a matter of fine-tuning the deal between us and George and that's a process that does take time."
