Bruckner: Austria role
Former Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner has been announced as the new manager of Austria.
Bruckner stepped down from his role in charge of his native country after the Czechs departed Euro 2008 at the group stages.
The 68-year-old coach succeeds Josef Hickersberger at the helm after co-hosts Austria failed to win a game at the European Championships.
Bruckner's first game in charge of Austria will be a friendly against world champions Italy on 20th August.
Austria begin their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign against France in Vienna on 6th September and will also play Romania, Serbia, Lithuania and the Faroe Islands in Group 7.
