Carson expresses Kop 'naivety'

England keeper looks to get his career back on track

West Brom goalkeeper Scott Carson believes he was 'naive' when joining Liverpool, but does not regret his time with the Reds.

The new Baggies shot-stopper was 19-years-old when he joined Liverpool from Leeds United in 2005.

But he made just eight appearances for Rafa Benitez's side, instead going out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Aston Villa.

After last week's £3.25million switch to The Hawthorns, he is now looking ahead to re-establishing his reputation.

This took a blow when he made mistakes in England's 3-2 Euro 2008 qualifying defeat to Croatia last season in his first competitive international match.

Difficult

He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I suppose I was naive going somewhere like Liverpool and expecting to get a chance straightaway - it was always going to be difficult.

"I've had a few years there and I have gained a lot of experience playing with top players and also seeing how different managers work.

"But it would have been nice to have a few more chances with Liverpool, but that was all down to the manager.

"I don't really regret any of my career moves, I've had good times wherever I've been.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge at The Hawthorns. Hopefully now that I've made a permanent move I can get back to playing well and everyone will see the best of me."
