Shevchenko: Milan link
Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is on the verge of returning to AC Milan, according to the Serie A club's director Silvano Ramaccioni.
Shevchenko has been a disappointment at Stamford Bridge since leaving Milan in 2006 in a £30million transfer.
Rumour has persistently linked the Ukraine international with a return to the San Siro and now it appears that could become reality.
It is reported that the move will initially be a season-long loan following a meeting between former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in Sardinia last week.
"Shevchenko in the Rossoneri shirt? There really isn't much more to be done," Ramaccioni told Radio Goal.
"We are close to the end of the deal and I hope that these little things that have to be fulfilled are done as soon as possible.
"I would be extremely delighted if Shevchenko returns to Milan and I am ready to embrace the Ukraine champion again, for us it's about a return home."
But Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti insists it is not yet certain Shevchenko will return and has hinted that there could be other signings.
"News is not official, currently he (Shevchenko) is still a Chelsea player", Ancelotti told Italian media.
"It's not definite Sheva will arrive and it is also not said that the market is closed should Sheva arrive."
Shevchenko is a legend at Milan and won the European Player of the Year award while at the club in 2004.
The 31-year-old is also Milan's second highest goalscorer having netted 127 goals in 208 games during a seven-year career in Italy.
