Primus: Valley return
Linvoy Primus' long-mooted loan move to Championship outfit Charlton has gone through.
The Portsmouth defender has penned a three-month deal with the Addicks, returning to the club where he began his career back in 1992.
The veteran centre-half has recently recovered from a career-threatening knee injury, which saw him sit out the entire 2007/08 season.
As such, the 34-year-old is looking forward to the prospect of regular first-team action.
He told Pompey's official website: "It's good. I have a connection to Charlton and I'm also going to be close to my family.
"And it's a great opportunity for me to play football at a high standard, with a club who have ambitions and are moving forward.
"Initially it was a little bit out of the blue when I was asked if I would consider going out on loan. I thought about it for a little while, but the answer had to be yes, really.
"It's a chance for me to get fit - match fit that is - and to play regular football, which I need to do."
Reports on Wednesday had suggested the proposed move had been shelved, but Primus is now looking forward to the prospect of proving himself ahead of a return to Fratton Park at the end of the year.
"There was some confusion over the length of the loan, but it is for three months," he added.
"I expect to be back in three months time to challenge for a place in the Pompey team, which is what I want.
"The only way I can put myself in a position to get into the team is to play football, so I needed to do this and that's why I'm going to Charlton.
"It's only for three months and I'll be back before you know it."
