Smolarek: Permanent option
Bolton have signed Racing Santander forward Ebi Smolarek on a season-long loan deal.
The Poland international was part of his country's Euro 2008 squad and has earned 34 caps.
Smolarek joined Racing in 2007 after previous spells with Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund, but he has now agreed a move to the Premier League.
Bolton also have the option to offer the 27-year-old a permanent contract, if he impresses at the Reebok Stadium.
A statement on Racing's official website read: "Racing and Bolton have reached an agreement for the loan of Ebi Smolarek to the British team until 30th June 2009.
"As well as that, the English outfit have an option to buy the Polish striker."
Smolarek has been named Polish Player of the Year a record three times having been awarded the mantle in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
He scored nine goals during Poland's European Championship qualifying campaign but failed to find the target during his country's first finals appearance.
