Recoba: Keen on English move
Blackburn are lining up a sensational move for Alvaro Recoba, skysports.com understands.
Recoba is a free agent after his contract expired at Inter Milan earlier this summer and he was not offered a new deal at the Giuseppe Meazza.
El Chino joined Inter way back in 1997 and quickly established himself as a fans' favourite with a number of stunning goals, but he struggled to hold down a regular place in the side.
Recoba spent last season on loan at Torino, but failed to win a permanent deal at the club.
The 32-year-old is now looking for a new challenge and his availability has alerted a number of clubs across Europe.
Monaco have expressed an interest in Recoba, but now Blackburn are ready to make a move to lure him to England.
Rovers boss Paul Ince is a big fan of Recoba and believes the Uruguayan would be the type of signing to excite Blackburn fans.
Recoba's English representative, Saif Rubie confirmed the player was due to arrive in England next week to talk to interested clubs and that the South American was keen to try his luck in the Premier League.
"He's due to arrive in England on Saturday, but as a free agent he is not under pressure to sign before the transfer window closes so we will evaluate all the options open to him.
"However, at this stage in his career he wants to play in the Premier League and we are hopeful he will end up there."
