Novak Djokovic upset the New York crowd after setting up a US Open semi-final meeting with Roger Federer by beating Andy Roddick.

Djokovic will meet defending champion Federer in a repeat of last year's final after a 6-2 6-3 3-6 7-6 success against home favourite Roddick.

The Serbian third seed had struggled through his fourth round match against Tommy Robredo, hampered by a hip injury and a stomach upset.

That prompted Roddick to remark that he had been afflicted by "16 injuries" - a claim the world number three responded to after his quarter-final victory.

"That's not nice anyhow to say in front of this crowd that I have 16 injuries and I am faking it," Djokovic said in a courtside interview to a chorus of boos from the American crowd.

"I have nothing against anybody. Andy was saying that I have 16 injuries in the last match so obviously I don't, right?

"I am really happy playing against Roddick on his court and in his city in his favourite tournament so to win against him is a huge effort. Like it or not, it's like that."

Djokovic, the Australian Open champion, is now certain to have the crowd against him when he takes on Federer for a place in what would be his third Grand Slam final.
