Sastre: 'New frontiers'
Carlos Sastre, who won the Tour de France for the first time this year, has announced that he has left CSC-Saxobank to join the Cervélo TestTeam project.
The 33-year-old, who finally rode into Paris in the yellow jersey in July, said he wants to achieve more goals in cycling and can do this with the new Canadian-based team that was only founded last month.
Cervelo is the largest time-trial bike manufacturer in the world and is a new professional cycling outfit that will also concentrate on testing new equipment.
"For me personally, these have been seven unforgettable years, and during these years I shared happiness with all the people who were in the team," Sastre told his own website.
"But, everything in life has a beginning and an end, and for my future I want to find a new motivation to enjoy cycling. This is one of the most important reasons why I decided to join the "Cervélo TestTeam" project.
"It offers to cycling the opportunity to open new frontiers, and work together with our sponsors and their customers in a really effective way.
"This project will open the doors to new dreams for the rest of my sporting career, where I still have important goals."
