Marcelino: Newcastle link
Marcelino Toral's agent insists he has not held talks with anyone from Newcastle about the vacant manager's job.
Marcelino, who was strongly linked with the St James' Park hot-seat following Sam Allardyce's departure last year, has again emerged as possible candidate after Kevin Keegan resigned earlier this week.
It is far from clear what Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is planning to do, but he and his current staff have strong connections in Spain - mainly through United vice-president Tony Jimenez.
Marcelino is one of the bookmakers' favourites to come in - but his agent Eugenio Botas says he has not heard from anyone at Newcastle.
"I have heard the new rumours in England, but Newcastle have not contacted me," Botas told the Sunday Sun.
Marcelino stressed earlier this week that he wanted to stay with Zaragoza - despite their relegation from La Liga last season.
"It doesn't matter what team it is or how much money they have, no club will take me away from Zaragoza because I have made a commitment here," he said.
"The only thing I have in mind is to fulfil the objectives we set ourselves with Real Zaragoza when we made the decision to come here."
Marcelino is not the only Spaniard being linked as Jose Antonio Camacho and Victor Fernandez are also said to be possible candidates.
