Wolves midfielder David Edwards is hoping to get the nod from Wales boss John Toshack against Liechtenstein on Saturday.

The 22-year-old started Wales' last two World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Russia, taking his caps tally to six.

With Joe Ledley on the sidelines Edwards is primed to keep his place in Toshack's starting XI, although the former Luton man is leaving nothing to chance by impressing in training.

"I've played the last two games and hopefully I can start the next one, but I know it's going to be tough," he told Sky Sports News.

"We've got a very good squad so I'll be trying my hardest in training this week to get myself in that starting XI."

Patience

Wales struggled at home against Azerbaijan and Edwards believes patience will be the key again this time around, if they are to see off the international minnows at the Millennium Stadium.

"Patience is key I think and hopefully we can do a little bit better against Liechtenstein and be a little bit more comfortable than we were last time," he continued.

"Three points is key and that'll give us a little bit of confidence going into the Germany game. If we'd have got a result in Russia we'd be a lot more confident.

"We played some good stuff out there second half and we deserved more than what we got in the end. We were definitely worthy of a point.

"It was a shame we conceded a late goal there. Hopefully it'll be different this time and we can get three points in both games."
