Carragher: Keeping calm
Jamie Carragher has told his Liverpool team-mates that reaching the top of the Premier League should not be viewed as a special achievement.
The Reds moved three points clear at the summit of the table as they ended Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge on Sunday courtesy of Xabi Alonso's early goal.
But Carragher has warned that he and his Liverpool colleagues should be keeping their feet on the ground as they bid to secure a first top-flight title since 1990.
The defender insists a club the size of Liverpool should be accustomed to league success, not 18 years of underachievement.
"People will be talking about us a bit more because we're top but we've got to live with that," Carragher said in the Daily Mail. "Teams are going to want to knock us off there. We have to cope with that.
"It (defeating Chelsea) was a great result and we're delighted with the position we're in.
"But we shouldn't get too carried away. We're only doing what we should be doing. We're a massive, top club with a lot of great players.
'Don't get me wrong, it was a good result, it's something no other side have achieved in four years so it's to be enjoyed. But we've got to capitalise on it."
