Lee Camp denied Derby victory in a frantic finish to the first East Midlands derby for almost four years.

The childhood Derby fan and ex-Rams keeper pulled off a superb penalty save from Nacer Barazite in the 93rd minute, although 10-man Forest still needed a contentious decision from referee Stuart Attwell to claim a share of the spoils.

Derby's celebrations were cut short by Attwell after Barazite's corner was headed in by Miles Addison, yet it was difficult to see where the foul was committed.

Forest had earlier broken the deadlock through a 55th-minute own goal by Emanuel Villa and the Argentinian striker drew Derby level 11 minutes later.

Lewis McGugan looked to have handed victory to the home side when he was sent off in the 74th minute but Forest hung on during a dramatic finish that eclipsed the previous action in a tense contest at Pride Park.

Scrap

The passion in the stands was not matched on the pitch during a low-key opening period in which the two sides scrapped for supremacy.

Forest had an early opening when Paul Anderson should have put ex-Derby striker Robert Earnshaw through on goal but his mis-placed pass was cut out by Lewin Nyatanga.

Derby winger Kris Commons was repeatedly booed by the travelling fans after choosing to move in the opposite direction to Earnshaw this summer and Rob Hulse almost connected with a teasing low cross from Commons.

The Forest defence blocked goal-bound efforts by Paul Green and Villa, a 29th-minute replacement for an injured Hulse, while Nathan Ellington and Gary Teale sent speculative efforts over for Derby.

Forest enjoyed their best spell after the restart, with McGugan forcing Stephen Bywater to pull off a fine low save after being slipped in by Anderson but the visitors struck from the resulting corner, which was cleared back out to McGugan.

Own goal opener

The Forest midfielder's low ball back in was turned goalwards by captain Ian Breckin, and although Bywater made another fine save, the rebound hit Villa's back and bobbled over his own goal-line.

Villa made amends by turning the ball past Camp from six yards after fellow sub Barazite had flicked on a Commons free-kick.

McGugan was then shown a straight red card for a full-blooded challenge on Green, yet Forest got the benefit of the doubt moments later when Commons appeared to be pushed by Breckin in the box.

Derby pushed forward in search of the winner and were awarded the spot-kick for a handball by sub Luke Chambers.

Camp, on-loan from QPR, saved superbly low to his right and pulled off another fine save from the resulting corner before Addison's header was chalked off.
