Chimbonda: Out of favour
Pascal Chimbonda's agent has revealed that his client is highly unlikely to be joining Lyon during the January transfer window.
The Sunderland full-back had issued a come-and-get-me plea to the French champions in November after growing frustrated at a lack of action at the Stadium of Light.
The Ligue 1 giants were expected to table an offer once the transfer window reopened, but no approach has been forthcoming.
Lyon are in the hunt for a right-back as Anthony Reveillere and Francois Clerc are sidelined with serious knee injuries and coach Claude Puel has admitted he is keen to land reinforcements.
However, Chimbonda would appear not to fit that bill, with the former Tottenham and Wigan man's representative far from optimistic that an agreement will be reached.
"It is dead, there has been nothing new from Lyon," Roger Boli explained in Le Parisien.
"The problem Pascal has had is simply a communication problem within the club. We're waiting, this situation will certainly move on."
Chimbonda only joined Sunderland from Spurs over the summer, but fell out of favour under the Black Cats' former boss Roy Keane and has failed to force his way back into contention under current coach Ricky Sbragia.
