Chimbonda: Spurs link
Sky Sports News understands that Sunderland will not allow Pascal Chimbonda to leave the Stadium of Light in January.
The French full-back, who was signed from Tottenham in the summer, has been linked with a rapid return to White Hart Lane.
Chimbonda was deemed surplus to requirements in North London by previous boss Juande Ramos and was allowed to move to the North East in August along with Steed Malbranque and Teemu Tainio.
With Ramos having departed and Harry Redknapp now at the helm, the former Wigan player was believed to be under consideration as cover for injured left-back Alan Hutton.
But Sunderland sources have told Sky Sports News that they have no plans to allow Chimbonda to depart Wearside in the winter transfer window.
Chimbonda, who started Saturday's FA Cup win over Bolton after a spell out of the side, is seen as a key member of new manager Ricky Sbragia's squad.
