Ghaly: Hoping for chance
Speaking to skysports.com, Hossam Ghaly has again asked the Tottenham fans to forgive him.
The Egyptian midfielder threw his shirt at the then manager Martin Jol when being taken off, some 18 months ago.
Since then Ghaly has never featured for the Spurs first-team - but under new boss Harry Redknapp, the midfielder is set to be given a fresh chance.
He was set to come on against Wigan last week in the FA Cup before abuse from home fans saw Redknapp change his mind.
Now Ghaly is hoping that Spurs fans will give him another chance as Redknapp looks to involve him in the coming weeks.
"I made one mistake when I took off my shirt when I was substituted, I have explained in the past," he told skysports.com.
"It was because of frustration with my performance and not the manager, I apologised to the manager immediately and I also apologised to the Spurs fans on the club's official website. I want the fans to know that I am truly sorry for what happened at that time but that was in the past and this is now.
"If the manager puts me on the pitch I promise that I will give everything for him, for the team and for the fans.
"I want them to judge me on my performance should I get the chance and not something which happened in the past and which I cannot change."
Ghaly looks set to be involved again on Tuesday as Tottenham host Burnley in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final.
The former Feyenoord star is also full of praise for Redknapp and how he has transformed the club since taking charge.
"Everybody here enjoys training, it is hard work but enjoyable," he said.
"There is a good team spirit and togetherness amongst the squad. The manager has made a big impact on everybody since taking over.
"All I can do is continue to work hard and if the manager asks me to play I will be ready.
"After the fans reaction last week it was tough for a couple of days but the manager, Clive Allen and my team-mates have been great with me."
