San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
American newspaper Union-Tribune reported that Jackson was pulled over in Clairemont by the California Highway Patrol just after 2:30am on Tuesday morning.
Jackson was booked into county jail and released at 6am, California highway patrol officer Brad Baehr confirmed.
The newspaper reported that along with the drink-driving allegation, Jackson is facing previous charges for driving under the influence. The results of his latest blood test are pending.
The fourth-year receiver had his finest season in 2008 with with 59 receptions for 1,098 yards and seven touchdowns.
The latest incident comes just five days before Chargers' AFC divisional play-off game against Pittsburgh.
"We're aware of the off-the-field issue involving Vincent," team general manager AJ Butler said in a statement.
"Obviously we're disappointed. We take these issues very seriously. Moving forward, we will monitor the situation and have no further comment."
