Downing: Not for sale
Middlesbrough have reiterated that no senior players will be sold in January following renewed speculation concerning Stewart Downing.
Home-grown winger Downing is a transfer target for Tottenham, with Boro having already rejected two offers from the Carling Cup holders.
Reports claimed that Boro had turned down an improved, third bid in the region of £14.5million on Wednesday morning - something the club have denied.
And Boro's chief executive Keith Lamb has again moved to quash rumours that Downing is on his way out of the Riverside.
Lamb insists the England international is not for sale and has suggested Boro will stop commenting on the transfer rumours.
"We again reiterate that no senior players will be leaving this football club during January," said Lamb in a statement.
"That is the end of the matter.
"Any ongoing media speculation is therefore meaningless and we will not continue to respond to it."
Boro midfielder Gary O'Neil has been linked with a return to Portsmouth, while Tuncay Sanli and Mido are also reported targets for other clubs.
