Brüssow: Test chance
South Africa coach Peter de Villiers has turned to Heinrich Brüssow to torment the British and Irish Lions in the first Test on Saturday.
Brüssow was only added to the South Africa squad this week after Schalk Burger failed to recover from injury in time.
And having been a thorn in the side of the Lions during the tour game against the Cheetahs, the in-form flanker will make his first Test start for the world champions ahead of Danie Rossouw.
Brüssow, who came off the bench against England in November 2008, is joined in the line-up by Ruan Pienaar and Frans Steyn.
Pienaar gets the nod to start at fly-half ahead of uncapped Blue Bulls ace Morné Steyn, who is named on the bench, while the versatile Steyn will fill in at full-back.
De Villiers has named a largely experienced line-up, with the side sharing 707 caps between them.
Juan Smith needs one try to become the record holder for the most tries as a Springbok flanker, while Bismarck du Plessis needs one try away from the side's record for a hooker.
