Hull City boss Phil Brown has admitted to holding an interest in Marc-Antoine Fortune and Marlon Harewood.
The Tigers are looking to build on an impressive debut season in the Premier League last term, which saw them beat the drop against the odds.
In order to remain competitive, though, Brown knows he must add quality signings to his squad over the summer.
Finding a proven goalscorer has been indentified as a main priority by the Hull boss, with a host of names linked with a move to the KC Stadium.
Former loan star Fraizer Campbell has been touted, and a bid has been accepted by Manchester United for the England U21 international, but that deal is ongoing.
With that in mind, Brown has now turned his attention to Nancy forward Fortune, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at West Brom during the 2008/09 campaign.
"Marc-Antoine Fortune is a player we're interested in," he told the Hull Daily Mail.
"We have discussed terms with his club and I would say we're probably one of three serious contenders.
"We've done our business with his club and we remain hopeful.
"He's somebody who caught the eye and captured everyone's imagination in the second half of the season."
Meanwhile, Brown has also revealed that an approach could be made for Aston Villa frontman Harewood should a potential swoop for Campbell fall through.
"Players with Premier League experience would interest us and Marlon Harewood is that type of player," he added.
"He's got good ability and he's a big powerful forward. He is the type of player that we are looking for and there's an interest from us."
