Freddie Lindgren won four heats as Wolverhampton Wolves earned a 50-42 success over Eastbourne Eagles in tricky conditions at Monmore Green.

Rain earlier in the day meant a treacherous track for the Monday night fixture but Lindgren coped admirably to lead the Wolves to victory.

The Swede triumphed in heats one, six, 10 and 13 as the hosts steadily built their advantage throughout the contest.

He was ably supported by Peter Karlsson (10+1) and Tai Woffinden (8+1), who each picked up two heat wins in a solid team effort.

Lindgren's hopes of a perfect evening were dashed in the final heat when Eatsbourne's Davey Watt edged him into second place.

Watt, just the second rider to beat Lindgren at Monmore Green this season, led the visitors' scoring with 12+1 points.

The result consolidates Wolverhampton in second place in the Sky Sports Elite League, 10 points above third-placed Peterborough Panthers.

Impressed

"We've done really well this season," said Wolves team manager Peter Adams.

"The table doesn't lie after 60 percent of the season.

"But there is a long way to go yet and, with the new scoring system, a lot of points still to play for. We have to keep our foot on the pedal."

League leaders Swindon Robins maintained their five-point advantage at the head of the standings with a 50-40 victory at Belle Vue Aces.

Leigh Adams bagged 12+1 points for the Robins, while Aces rider Krzysztof Kasprzak's 11-point haul was not enough to save his side from defeat.

Peterborough Panthers saw off Ipswich Witches 54-42 in the other Monday evening contest.

Niels K Iversen starred for the home side with 12 points at the East of England Showground.
