Finnigan: Sidelined
Huddersfield second rower Simon Finnigan has been ruled out of the rest of the Super League play-offs.
The 27-year-old Ireland international suffered wrist ligament damage during the Giants' 42-16 win at Celtic Crusaders on Saturday.
He therefore joins Danny Kirmond and Kevin Brown, who both have knee injuries, on the sidelines for the final game of the season this weekend and the play-offs that follow.
"Finny has been doing it tough since he joined us and this is just the latest blow for him," said coach Nathan Brown.
"He's already due to have an operation on his neck and now he may also need wrist surgery."
Finnigan's latest injury is also a blow for Ireland ahead of the European Cup in October and November.
There is better news for another Huddersfield, though, with 18-year-old reserve full back Elliot Hodgson having been rewarded with a three-year full-time contract.
"It's exciting for the club and for Elliot," said Brown. "To have one of the local players come through is always a bonus.
"Elliot has a long way to go before he becomes a Super League player but he has already shown he's definitely got the ability."
