Neville: Enjoys rivalry

I don't get a great reception at Anfield I must say - I'm not their favourite son.

Gary Neville says he would accept being beaten twice by Liverpool again this season, so long as Manchester United win the Premier League.

United meet arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1, with the Merseyside club having won both clashes last season.

However, United held off Liverpool to secure a third straight title by four points and Red Devils captain Neville would take a similar situation again.

"Liverpool may have beaten us twice in the league last season, but I wouldn't say we're looking for revenge," said Neville

"When the top teams play against each other it seems to go through cycles and teams have good results and bad results.

"We know anything can happen in these kind of games, so the main thing is not losing.

"The most important thing at the end of the season is winning the league and we're delighted that we won it last season.

"I suppose we'd rather lose both games again and win the league than beat Liverpool and not win the title."

Rivalry

Liverpool could fall 10 points behind United if they lose on Sunday, but Neville insists it would not be the end of Rafa Benitez's side's title dream.

He added: "They haven't had the best start to the season, but even if we beat them, it would be too early to write off their championship challenge.

"Teams can win six games on the run and they'll be back up there again."

Neville is likely to receive a hostile reception from the Liverpool supporters, and is happy to acknowledge the rivalry between the two clubs

"I don't get a great reception at Anfield I must say - I'm not their favourite son," continued Neville.

"No United players get a good reception at Anfield, but it's the same for their players at our ground and it is to be expected.

"I've never said I don't respect Liverpool. You have to respect a team that has been as successful as they have and has the history and tradition they have.

"But I'm a United fan and the rivalry is well documented. United fans want United to win and Liverpool to lose - and it's the same the other way."

Andrew Metcalfe (Manchester United fan) says...

Obviously i want United to win but there's the danger that Liverpool might sack Benitez if we do!! As far as i'm concerned Liverpool will never win the league with Rafa in charge and he's doing a wonderful job. Owen to score the winner? Love it, i'd love it..........
