Islam: Match-winning innings
Fifth One Day International
Chittagong
Zimbabwe 221-9 (B R M Taylor 118 no) v Bangladesh 222-9 (Naeem Islam 73 no)
Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 1 wkt
Bangladesh finished up 4-1 winners in the one-day series against Zimbabwe after a thrilling one-wicket win in the final match in Chittagong.
Naeem Islam hit an unbeaten 73 as he combined with number 11 Nazmul Hossain to see the Tigers to a thrilling victory with an over to spare.
The efforts of the home side's lower order denied the Zimbabweans, who had needed Brendan Taylor's maiden international century to make 221-9.
The wicketkeeper-batsman's knock of 118 not out gave the tourists hope of a morale-boosting victory in the dead rubber.
His only support came from Elton Chigumbura, who made 38 in a third-wicket stand of 62, with the next highest scorer being tail-ender Ray Price's 13.
Abdur Razzak continued his fine form with the ball with three more wickets, as the home spinners did the damage - skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah also picking up three scalps apiece.
Taylor, though, remained defiant while wickets tumbled around him, finishing the 50 overs unbeaten having hit seven fours and four sixes.
Bangladesh's reply stuttered despite contributions from Raqibul Hasan (31) and Mahmudullah (33), who was one of three batsmen to be run out.
Crucially, Islam made sure he didn't waste his good start, even when he had to watch on as three wickets fell for five runs in the space of eight balls.
Despite being left with the number 11 for company and with still 35 needed, he refused to panic, instead cashing in on the batting powerplay in spectacular fashion with successive sixes off Chamu Chibhabha.
