Kevin McDonald believes the camaraderie which exists within the Burnley camp is integral to their ambitions this season.

The Clarets have made positive progress so far in their debut Premier League campaign, with a number of memorable performances helping to raise their profile.

Owen Coyle's leadership is helping them to make a mockery of the pre-season doom-mongers who tipped the Turf Moor outfit for a swift return to the Championship.

Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland have already been put to the sword, while a 3-3 draw at Manchester City on Saturday embodied what Burnley are all about.

The Clarets saw a two-goal lead slip against the big-spending Blues, but responded in style to snatch a last-gasp leveller.

McDonald was the hero of the day, with the Scottish midfielder of the opinion that Burnley are more than capable of punching above their weight on a regular basis this term.

Togetherness

"Some people might have thought we had blown it at 3-2 down and against players like they have," he said following the topsy-turvy contest with City.

"But we stuck at it and got our reward.

"Some of their players cost £30million, but we're all human.

"Lads in our dressing room, like Graham Alexander and Robbie Blake, are 37 and 34 and still playing at this level.

"Obviously everybody would like to have that kind of money to buy the top players.

"What we have is a good team spirit and great togetherness. We're doing well enough."
