Lampard: Out of Brazil game
Frank Lampard has been ruled out of England's clash with Brazil on Saturday due to a thigh injury picked up in training.
The Chelsea midfielder has been assessed by England's medical staff and will fly back to England from Qatar later on Thursday night.
England coach Fabio Capello has decided against calling up a replacement, leaving himself with a 21-man squad for Saturday's glamour friendly.
"We can confirm that Frank Lampard picked up an injury to his left thigh whilst training today and will be returning home this evening," said an FA spokesman.
"There will be no further call-ups to the squad."
Capello is already without Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson after he pulled out of the travelling party with an injury picked up in Monday night's draw with Birmingham City, while David Beckham is unavailable due to club commitments.
With senior members such as Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole, David James, Rio Ferdinand and Emile Heskey also absent with various ailments, England have it all to do if they are to defeat the five-time world champions.
