Kennedy: Hangs up boots
Celtic's injury-plagued defender John Kennedy has been forced into early retirement on medical grounds.
The 26-year-old has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, with his last coming while on loan with Norwich in December 2008.
Kennedy, who has not played a first-team game since, says it was not easy hanging up his boots but admits it is the right decision.
The talented defender came through the youth academy at Celtic Park and over the past 10 years made 45 appearances for the club, scoring once.
"It is with great regret that I have made this decision. However, given the medical advice which I received, this is the right decision," he told the club's official website.
"Clearly, this is very disappointing for me and my family. However, this is something I will accept and come to terms with.
"I have enjoyed my time with Celtic immensely and I would like to thank everyone at the club and all the Celtic fans for all the support and backing they have given me during my time.
"It has been an absolute privilege to play for such a great club and of course I wish the team the very best for the future."
