Habana: Cleared for Springboks
South Africa wing Bryan Habana has been cleared after being cited for allegedly kicking Vincent Clerc during the Springboks' 20-13 loss to France.
At a disciplinary hearing in London, the IRB's judicial officer for the match, Professor Lorne Crerar, examined a series of video clips as well as the player's explanation and could not confirm, upon the balance of probabilities, that Habana had intentionally kicked his opponent.
A detailed consideration of the video clips shows France full-back Damien Traille pulling Habana's leg towards him and prostrate player Clerc.
Habana was cleared of any wrong doing and the 26-year-old is free to resume playing immediately.
