Pavlyuchenko: Frustrating time
Roman Pavlyuchenko wants out of Tottenham and has set his heart on a return to his Russian roots.
The 27-year-old frontman moved to White Hart Lane from Spartak Moscow on 1st September 2008.
Having shone for his country against England during Euro 2008 qualification, much was expected of the languid striker.
However, he struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and soon found himself consigned to a place on the bench.
That situation has failed to improve this season and Pavlyuchenko has made it clear that he is now desperate to seal a move elsewhere during the January transfer window.
"I have a huge desire to return home," he told a Russian magazine.
"I'm prepared to accept any decent offer from Russia.
"It seems Tottenham is now a turned page for me.
"I don't expect the situation to change for the better. Six months ago, I landed on the bench. I immediately made it clear I did not want to be there.
"The manager kept saying he relied on me, but nothing changed. I need to find a way out of this."
Despite growing increasingly disillusioned with life at Spurs, Pavlyuchenko feels his time spent in England has been beneficial to his career.
"In my first year there I played a lot, scored often and was successful with my national team," he added.
"I had an insight into English football which helped me to understand a lot of new things.
"So I do not have any regrets. But my present situation doesn't suit me."
