Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn has revealed to skysports.com that he has yet to begin discussions with the club regarding a contract extension.

The in-form 29-year-old's present deal expires at the end of the season and reports have suggested that Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is keen to secure his services.

But ahead of Sunday's Lancashire derby with Bolton, Dunn is currently unsure if he will be following the lead of defender Chris Samba, who signed a new long-term contract with the club earlier this week.

The one-cap England international returned to Rovers, his hometown club, in 2007 after four years at Birmingham and he has indicated that he will again consider alternatives if it appears his future does not lie at Ewood Park.

"My contract is up at the end of the season," he told skysports.com. "I don't know what is going to happen with that so we will just wait and see.

"I'm just one of them. As long as I keep doing my stuff on the pitch, one way or another, whether it is at Blackburn or elsewhere, there will be options there for me at the end of the season.

"There have been no talks as yet. I just sit there and keep doing what I do best on the pitch and everything off the pitch will take care of itself.

"My agent and the club, if they want to do something that will be sorted out. If not, we will certainly have options come January or the end of the season."

Clubs could consider testing Rovers' resolve regarding Dunn, along with Morten Gamst Pedersen, who is also out of contract next summer, when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.

But the former is adamant that he has not already been contacted by interested parties who may want to test the water, and that he would happily stay at Blackburn if a deal can be agreed.

Asked if he had been approached, Dunn said: "No, obviously I am under contract at Blackburn so I wouldn't be doing that.

"It is the club I support and I want to play with. But likewise everything has got to be right and add up.

"If I'm playing at the club and doing well then I am more than happy."
