With Harry Redknapp the strong favourite to land the England job, we weigh up his pros and cons.
Paffett: quickest time
McLaren's Gary Paffett clocked the fastest time on the second day of the young driver testing in Jerez.
On a day that was dominated by cloud cover and occasional rain in the mid-afternoon, the Briton's time of one minute and 18.718 seconds was the quickest over the first two days.
After a disappointing morning session, Nico Hulkenberg, the only man at Jerez who has a confirmed race seat in Formula One for 2010, bounced back to clock the second fastest time, albeit nearly four tenths of a second slower than Paffett.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was top of the charts during the early exchanges in Spain, but was unable to improve his time one minute and 19.243s in the afternoon.
Paul Di Resta of Force India continued his strong form; having completed day one in second position Di Resta got another 58 laps under his belt.
Esteban Gutierrez rounded out the day's top five, notching up a fastest time of one minute and 20.190s in his BMW-Sauber.
As was the case on the first day, the Brawn GP duo of Mike Conway and Marcus Ericsson shared the testing duties, with Conway behind the wheel in the morning before the 19-year-old Swede took over duties in the afternoon.
The drivers were evenly matched with just 0.20s separating Conway in sixth and Ericsson in seventh
Mirko Bortolotti propped up the bottom of the table, the Toro Rosso man being the only driver to cause the red lights to make an appearance when he stalled between turns five and six.
Squashed between the Brawn pair and Bortolotti in 12th were Renault's Ho-Pin Tung in 11th and Luca Di Grassi in 10th. Jules Bianchi of Ferrari, who earlier in the day announced he had signed a long-term contract with the Scuderia, completed a massive 113 laps with a fastest time of one minute and 20.586s.
