With Harry Redknapp the strong favourite to land the England job, we weigh up his pros and cons.
Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham produced a performance on a level with the best during his tenure as fellow top-four contenders Manchester City were swept aside.
Spurs recorded a 3-0 win over Mark Hughes' City at White Hart Lane as two Niko Kranjcar goals sandwiched a predatory Jermain Defoe strike.
The victory moved fifth-placed Tottenham four points clear of City in the race for UEFA Champions League football and Redknapp was delighted with the performance.
He said: "That was as good as we've played over the 90 minutes. We never let off. All the chances were created by us, it was a great performance by us."
Redknapp was especially impressed by the displays of Kranjcar and England winger Aaron Lennon, who tormented City left-back Sylvinho.
The Spurs boss said of Kranjcar: "He was fantastic, Aaron was also brilliant. They all worked well, the whole team defended well, every one of them. We were strong. It was a great performance.
"The little man (Lennon), we have to keep giving him the ball - that's what I keep telling them to do, give it to him till he's sick of it and if you keep supplying him with the ball he'll keep creating chances for you."
City slipped to eighth in the Premier League on the back of their defeat, but Redknapp believes they have a bright future.
"They're a strong side," he said. "I honestly believe in the next four or five years I could see them going on to win the championship because of the backing they've got. I think they'll get stronger and stronger with Mark.
"But we were the better team tonight, no doubt about it. We thoroughly deserved our win."

although it sounds a good score line, the few times that city did get forward we where lucky not to concede. it was mainly down to their poor finishing rather than our good defending that kept the score down. but that has always been our down fall, look at the game against villa. the whole king/woodgate issues need to be sorted out and long term plans put in place, i really cant understand why we continue to let ourselves down this way.
