Piquionne: Reluctant to head home
Frederic Piquionne has announced his desire to secure a permanent switch to England over the summer.
The French striker is currently on a season-long loan at Portsmouth and has caught the eye with a number of assured performances for the South Coast strugglers.
He has relished the responsibility placed on his shoulders at Fratton Park, having struggled to hold down regular football at Stade Gerland.
Piquionne admits he is reluctant to head back to life on the Lyon bench and has revealed that he would welcome the opportunity to remain in the Premier League.
He told L'Equipe: "I am still in contact with Lyon officials. I was at the match against Real Madrid.
"But if they let me leave last summer that means they do not really rely on me.
"Other forwards have come in since then, and they cost a lot of money. I don't want to go back to Lyon and sit on the bench.
"My preference would be to stay in England. I hope to make the most of the final few months I have at Portsmouth and attract interest from some English clubs."
