Laws: Unconcerned by reports
Burnley manager Brian Laws insists there is no foundation to reports claiming he is close to the sack at Turf Moor.
Reports on Wednesday claimed that Clarets chairman Barry Kilby was about to wield the axe, despite Laws only taking the reins from Owen Coyle in January.
Since taking over Laws has only managed one win in 10 games and pressure is already beginning to mount on the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.
However, he claims there is no truth in the reports and insists that he is focused on a long-term plan for the club.
"There's no foundation to it, whether it's a ploy to destabilise us I don't know but we have put the lid on it very firmly," he said.
"It was totally wrong, there was no truth in it whatsoever and the chairman has been very clear about that with a strong message.
"We have a long-term plan here, we are not looking at the short term and he has deliberately gone out there to slam it down.
"This was uncalled for and the good thing is it won't affect the players.
"Whatever knocks come our way we are big enough and strong enough to take them and I have been in the game long enough to have a thick enough skin to not let that affect me.
"I certainly won't be walking around with a grimace on my face or my head down, but working as hard as ever to prove the knockers wrong."
Burnley are currently 18th in the Premier League table with just 24 points from 30 games so far.
The Clarets have only managed one draw and 14 defeats away from home all season, and they take on Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
